Program Downloads

Not a lot here right now.....

More will get added as a write it.

Mathgame 1.01 is a simple program I put together more as a programming exercise for myself than a real program, when I was teaching myself Visual Basic.

It's a software re-creation of those children's games that have the translucent buttons with additions written on them, then when you press the button in, you can see the answer through the button. They usually go from 2+2 up to 10+10, or something like that. This one does that, but it also does subtraction, multiplication and division. There's also an option to give you the opportunity to enter an answer, then it will tell you whether it's correct or not, rather than just giving you the answer.

Screenshots will be coming soon, and, since this was never originally meant to be a released software program, it doesn't have a help file. I just never got around to writing one. If I get a fair number of downloads, I'll write one and do another release, maybe even (gasp!) with more features! It currently runs under Win32. This means: Windows 95/98/Me, or Windows NT4/2000/XP. In theory, it might run under Windows 3.x with Win32s installed, but I haven't tried it, and I don't intend to. I am, however, planning to soon release a version specifically designed for Windows 3.x. It should run on anything from a 486 with 8MB RAM, up to a 2.8GHz P4. As long as your computer will run Windows, it should have enough power for this program.

Two distribution methods are available:

mathgame1.01.zip - this is a .zip archive of all the files needed to set up the program on your computer. Use WinZip, or another program that can extract .zip archives, to extract all the files to a temporary directory. Then double-click on the setup.exe file, to install the program on your computer. If you have Winzip, this is the preferable method, because the archive file you need to download is a little smaller.

mathgame1.01.exe - is a self extracting executable file. Download it, and double-click on it to extract the setup files to a temporary directory. The setup program should then run automatically. If, for some reason, it doesn't, double-click on the setup.exe file to install the program. Download this only if you don't have WinZip installed on your computer, or want the automatic setup feature.

After using either of these files and installing the program, you can delete the temporary directory you unzipped the archive to.
